Radeon HD 6490 1 GB
or
Radeon HD 6770 1 GB
I've NEVER had any experience with any graphic card other than nVidia and I'm going to have this laptop for a while so I don't want any regrets.
The Radeon are only $25 difference so, which is better, faster? 6490 vs 6770? Do you have any experience with them? Or should I just stick with good old nVidia?
___________
My desktop has an old nVidia GT 9400 and I've NEVER had any problem with it, I've been able to play many high specs shooters/games. The only game I've ever had any noticeable problem is with Crysis 2 (multiplayer) and only because of the blurring, without it it runs good.
That's why I would think any graphic card is good for me but still, it's better to be sure.
This are the laptop specs just in case:
Intel(R) Dual Core(TM) i5-2410M
6GB DDR3 System Memory
640GB 5400RPM Hard Drive
THANK YOU.

Let's find some benchmarks but first let's note that unless we have the laptop in question it is VERY POSSIBLE for the faster GPU to turn in a slow performance on some laptop. You have to think of this as a "system" and not as "the chip."

In short the 6490M is your entry level class device and the 6770M is the fast middle class.
The scary part here is that HP. Here I have a broken (by HP no less) HP laptop and 9 months later after many escalations I still have a broken laptop. I wonder about HP's warranty system. It failed for me and having done all HP asked I'm left to wonder if their system is now broken beyond repair.

The Radeon HD 6770M is covered quite a bit here on the Notebook Review Forums: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-pavilion-notebooks/562249-hp-dv6t-dv7t-select-edition-quad-edition-6xxx-series-owners-lounge.html
I decided to play around a bit with overclocking the HD 6770M with my DV6t (i7-2630qm). Right now the machine is running stable at 860MHz core and 975MHz memory. Sitting on a cheap rosewill cooling pad the GPU has yet to pass 68 degrees Celsius.
At stock clocks (725/800) I was getting:
3dMark06: 11873
3dMark Vantage: P6482
3dMark 11: P1562
With overclocking (860/975) I'm getting:
3dMark 06: 13614
3dMark Vantage: P7611
3dMark 11: P1813

I've been looking for benchmarks for both graphic cards and I don't seem to find many (actually just one) for the 6770, why is that? Is it because it's new or just it's not been used much? I only seem to find for 68xx 69xx versions, that doesn't mean it's bad, does it?
Still, if I've been able to play crysis 2 with a nvidiagt 9400 a radeon 6770 will pretty much do the job right?

Look at how long that model has been shipping. Takes a few weeks for reviews to happen.
I know, I know, folk want it now.
I never found the Nvidia 9400 to satisfy gamers here.

Yeah most people have just received their hp laptops with the radeon this week because of some delay with shipping. Anyways, I guess I'm fine with the 6770.
For people interested, someone did a benchmark and the Radeon HD 6770 turned up to be "a little less powerful than a DDR3 5850/6850M" or "into the class 1 section between the 6850 and 445", "Which would put it well below the 555M..." and also "The [3DMark]06 score is better than the average 555M or 4870M"
This is the result for 3Dmark 11 (HP)
http://3dmark.com/3dm11/928669
3dMark06 was 11623.
This is the result of a Dell Laptop
