Quick opinion about the M11x please

Atm I have a 13.3 inch Sony Vaio S series, and for sure my next notebook will be an Alienware.

But what is getting me atm is, M11x or M14x, 11.6 or 14.1 inch.

Because, I plan to only have one notebook, once the Alienware comes the Sony will be retired.



So the question is, what is your opinion on the M11x's 11.6 inch screen "to use" as the main PC for an user?



Is it/would it be; too tiring? too small? is it bad for the eyes after too long? can a 11.6 inch be the main PC? So these "types" of questions.

m14x has 14 inches screen, not 14.1....



in the m11x chasis perfectly fit a 12 inches screen, that is why I said this machine should be called m12x...



I recomend you to buy the m14x, it is perfect in portability and size...



m11x is a good choice too, but maybe you would like more power...

the m11x is my main machine, i absolutely love it. and i agree with HEUR, it should be called the m12x. but the m11x is pretty powerful. it can be anyones main pc as long as they dont mind the 11.6inch screen. peronally i think its perfect. but the m14x wouldnt be too bad either.

Depends what you're going for, if you want more battery life then the M11x, but if you don't mind less battery life then choose the m14x

It is really up to your preference. Do you want a 12" notebook with less power but weighs less and is easier to store and carry around or do you want a notebook with a bigger screen and more power? I have the m11x because it was small enough but still powerful enough for me to take around but If I didn't have my xps desktop then I would of gotten the 14" since I would of liked a bigger screen for a main computer. It is up to you really. All my friends and my wife have 14-15" notebooks but I just prefer the smaller one to carry with me when I go out.

Thank you all for the replies, it's appreciated. And for the considerations about power/battery/size of machine/etc. But these aspects between the M11x and M14x, I know what the balancing-act will be, it does not bother me.



The main question thing is, "I'm leaning towards getting a M11x, but I want to know your opinions about using the 11.6 inch screen as a main PC".

Is it too hard on the eyes, for example if you use it daily for 6-8 hours? or things like what bothers you about the 11.6 inch screen?

I'm looking for those experiences. Thank you.

Not hard on the eyes at all when I pick up and look at my wifes Dell 13" 1398 it feels like a 15" now and I dont want anything to do with it ! I sold my 15" inspiron and my 20" desktop is nothing more then a dust collector.. Keep in mind there is no CD drive I bought a external one but that too has done nothing but collect dust.. I personally love the size and getting somthing bigger is out of the question now.. On a side note you can download the snaptastic driver and that will allow you to pinch zoom in and zoom out with 2 fingers on your touch pad wich helps for some sites with really small type..

Maybe if you have visual problems, you could have problems when the screen is a little far... but I use it as my main PC, and no serious problems with it..l

I love my M11x a lot. It's small, sexy and turns (me) on when I need it.The only problem I have with it is the screen. When I sit in the library or at the bus stop with windows and lights everywhere, even turning the brightness to max it's hard to see what's going on. other than that, exellent system.

My desktop has a 20" screen and my old notebook was a 14" inspiron, I have no problems with the small screen of the m11x, it doesn't hurt my eyes and stuff if you were looking for that answer =P



Btw the m11x is my main computer now because I spend alot of time in college and when I'm at home i usually conect it to the 20" monitor, and sometimes I take it downstairs when I use it in the night to let my family sleep
