5850 Driver or Hardware Problem

I installed Crysis 2 yesterday through Steam, and when I run it, my computer freezes and crashes during one of the very beginning loading screens. If I remember correctly, it is the Crytek screen. To fix this, I have to manually shut down my computer. I had a similar problem when I first got my M15x, which was solved by a driver update. I updated my drivers to 11.2, and tried again. This didn't work. I then updated to 11.4, which also did not work. My system specifications are: i7 740qm CPU, 5850 GPU, 8gb 1333mhz RAM. Please don't hesitate to ask anything else that may help find a solution. Thanks in advance!

i bought the retail disk version and everything has been good so far, but haven't had time to play with it much yet
