iMacs with i7 core 2600 or 2600k processors?

I am in the market for a new desktop computer and many companies have already made great offers. HP has a tower computer with monitor for under $2,000 with a i7-970 six-core processor, Blue Ray player, 12 GB memory and NVIDIA GeForce 460 video card. Dell has desktop with monitor under $1,900 with i7 2600, 12 GB, Dual Blue Ray burners, and ATI Radeon HD 5870 video card. However, where is Apple and why are they still offering last years technology with no price cut? Their current offer is i7 2.93GHz Quad-Core, ATI Radeon HD 5750, no blue ray and only 8GB of memory for just under $2,400. I know Apple will release a new series of desktops very soon with new processors and video cards. Does anyone have a date when Apple will finally break their silence to announce the new iMacs? Thank you for any information.
