Surge Protectors/ Power Conditioners

Hello everyone! Recently I've been reading articles about Power Conditioners, but most importantly: their ability to improve audio/video performance through noise reduction. I DON'T NEED further explanation of the topic, I simply want to know if anyone has had any experience with them. Do they improve video/audio performance-quality? How noticeable is this difference? Which power conditioners would you recommend, regardless of price? I want to make it clear that I prefer to hear about your experiences and not what other people have convinced you guys to think...I still get people that try to convince me that my M1000 Monster HDMI cable work just as well as $10 cables from Wal-Mart, but through experience I've come to think otherwise...Thanks everyone!

You *don't* need explanation of the topic, but want to know if they improve AV performance(?) Sort of odd, wouldn't you agree?

Perhaps you have some pre-conceived ideas already. I won't spoil those notions for you.

If you do a forum search this topic has pretty much been beaten up badly. Other AV centered forums discuss it as well.

Hint: if you ever want to test out a theory, do it yourself. Do a side-by-side comparison using two different types of HDMI cables, or both with and without a conditioner (etc.).
You comment regarding cables tells me you haven't done enough tests with various cable brands.
