Recovery Partition, and other questions

I'm having a slight problem accessing/using my recovery partition on my G73. I had a problem before that resulted in endless looping of BSOD screens so as a temporary solution to the problem I used a win 7 ultimate disc to restore windows (since I couldn't find out how to use the recovery partition then). Now I need to have a genuine copy of windows so I'm going to restore it with the recovery partition. I know it is there because it is listed as Drive F, using 6 or so gigs of that partition. When windows boots and i press F9, windows boot manager appears and gives me 1 option, "Windows 7 Home Premium (recovered)". And when I press it, it just boots windows normally. I found this kind of funny because that isn't even the OS I have installed now, yet it is asking which OS to boot and that is the only listed option. Another thing is that the recovery partition never appeared (in windows) for me until I held down F9 (in which windows just booted normally). According to the user manual, it says to press F9 during boot up, then press enter to select Windows Setup[EMS Enabled]. That doesn't appear at all.

So my question is what could I be doing wrong? It acts like my computer does not have a recovery option yet the recovery partition is indeed there. Is there a way to burn the recovery partition to a DVD and boot it? OR some other means of running it. Could I make a boot option for it in BIOS and launch it that way somehow?

Also, my charging cord only charges in one position. By position i dont mean the position of the cord itself, the position in the DC jack. Does anyone with experience know if this is a power cord issue or a DC Jack issue? I can fix it myself so no I am not sending it in for repairs. I need my laptop for college, and I have enough experience to fix it myself.

And does anyone know if the GPU fan is sold separate from the heat-sink? the GPU fan + heat-sink is $85 from what I have been able to research. I think that the overheating GPU has killed my fan and resulted in a very loud and annoying rattling cycle of about 1 minute every 10 or so minutes. I am re-pasting my GPU as soon as my ICD7 comes in the mail.

I was going to post this on the Asus site, but they have a very very un-user friendly forum. It won't let me access the damn notebook forum for some reason.

Thanks for your time and responses.
