I recently upgraded my operating system to Windows 7, which as you probably know phased out all native MS-DOS support. Since I still have DOS programs that I use requently, I bought a secondary internal HDD and formatted (a partition )with good old FAT. Loaded DOS 5.0 (I know, ancient) and everything worked fine, including video cards, mouse, keyboard and XMS. Keyboard works great in prompt and in simple text- adventure games, but acts erratically in larger games/ programs (with graphics and mandatory XMS). Mouse works fine in these. Any thoughts?
System specs:
64-bit Intel Core2 CPU 6600@ 2.40GHz
2.0GB mem
40.0 GB secondary Seagate HDD (<1.99 GB allocated for MS-DOS FAT partition)
BIOS 2.4.2
VGA, Both keyb and mouse USB
Thanks

whether the old fashioned PS/2 keyboard and mouse would work better in these older DOS games and programs.

are usually caused by the fact that many of the DOS games relied on the CPU clock for timings and when run on fast computers run way to fast. Remember, back then the 486 was a pretty hot box and the Pentium 90 was about as good as you could get.
