Wireless preblem

I have a N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter WNDA3100 and am trying to use it to establish a connection with our wireless network which the router for that is a Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Router when i press the button on the adapter it goes to a first time connection screen with a 2 minute countdown I go to the router and it has a cisco button for a secure connection it flashes white when i press it ive held for as long as 5 sec and nothing the adapter wont connect are they just not compatible?

As long as the USB adapter is correctly installed on the computer, RIGHT click on the wireless icon in the system tray, choose "View available wireless networks". When the window pops up, select the name of the Lynksys router from the listing, then click on "Connect".. If the network is a secure network, you'll be asked for a password, which you need to type twice. Click on "Connect" or OK and it should connect correctly and securely.
